1. Clay Workshops
1.1 Booking & Payment
All workshop places must be booked and paid for in advance via the website. Your place is only confirmed once full payment has been received and you have received a booking confirmation from me.
•Payment is due in full at the time of booking unless otherwise agreed in writing.
•Prices are stated at the time of booking and include all materials unless explicitly stated otherwise.
•Workshop prices are not subject to VAT.
1.2 Cancellations by You
If you need to cancel your place, the following policy applies:
•More than 14 days before the workshop date: full refund, less any booking fees.
•7–14 days before the workshop date: 50% refund.
•Less than 7 days before the workshop date: no refund, but you may transfer your place to another person (please let me know in advance).
To cancel, please contact me as soon as possible by email at claywithjoanna@gmail.com.
1.3 Cancellations by Me
I reserve the right to cancel or reschedule a workshop due to circumstances beyond my control (including but not limited to illness, venue issues, or insufficient enrolments). In such cases, I will notify you as soon as possible and offer either:
•A full refund of the amount paid; or
•A transfer to an alternative date, subject to availability.
I am not liable for any additional costs you may incur as a result of a cancellation by me (for example, travel or accommodation costs).
1.4 What to Expect
Participants must be aged 18 or over unless the workshop is specifically advertised as suitable for younger attendees.
Participants must take their pieces away at the end of the workshop or by arrangement with Joanna if pieces are to be kiln fired.
Timescales for fired work will be communicated to you at the workshop. I will do my best to fire work promptly, but cannot guarantee specific timescales.
Finished pieces can be collected from Joanna or posted to you at your cost and risk.
I accept no liability for pieces that crack, break, or are otherwise damaged during the firing process, as this is a natural risk of working with clay.
Please wear clothing you don’t mind getting dirty. I provide aprons but cannot accept liability for damage to clothing.
1.5 Health & Safety
You attend workshops at your own risk. I take reasonable steps to ensure a safe working environment, but you are responsible for your own conduct during the session. Please inform me of any relevant health conditions or accessibility requirements prior to attending.
1.6 Equality and Inclusivity
I am committed to maintaining a respectful community where all participants can learn, develop and grow within a dignified and safe place.
1.7 Disabilities
Workshops are small so that participants have the space and time to really develop their work and derive enjoyment in the process. I aim to create a warm, friendly and creative environment. Should participants have a disability or have any specific requirements please do not hesitate to contact me prior to the workshop so I can accommodate participant needs.
2. Artwork Sales
2.1 Orders
All sales are subject to availability. An order is accepted and a contract formed when I send you written confirmation of your order. I reserve the right to refuse or cancel an order at any time prior to dispatch, in which case I will issue a full refund.
2.2 Pricing
All prices are listed in pounds sterling (GBP) and are inclusive of VAT. Postage and packaging costs will be clearly stated at checkout and are additional to the item price unless stated otherwise.
2.3 Handmade Goods — Variations
All my artwork is handmade. Each piece is unique and may vary slightly from photographs shown on the website in terms of colour, texture, size, and finish. These variations are a natural characteristic of handmade work and are not considered defects.
2.4 Delivery
•I aim to dispatch in-stock items within 5 working days of receiving payment.
•Delivery timescales are estimates and not guaranteed. I am not liable for delays caused by Royal Mail or other couriers.
•Risk in the goods passes to you upon delivery. Please inspect items promptly upon receipt.
•If your item arrives damaged, please photograph the packaging and item and contact me within 48 hours of receipt.
2.5 Returns & Refunds
You have the right to cancel your order and return items within 14 days of receiving them, in accordance with the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. To exercise this right:
•Contact me within 14 days of delivery by email, clearly stating your intention to return.
•Return the item within a further 14 days, in its original condition and packaging.
•You are responsible for the cost of return postage unless the item is faulty.
•Once I receive the item and confirm it is undamaged, I will issue a full refund to your original payment method within 14 days.
Items that are damaged, used, or not in their original condition may not be eligible for a full refund.
Bespoke, personalised, or made-to-order items are not eligible for return unless faulty, in accordance with the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.
3. Commissions
3.1 Process & Agreement
I welcome commissions for bespoke ceramic artwork. Before work begins, we will agree in writing on:
•Design, dimensions, and materials
•Timescale and estimated completion date
•Price and payment schedule
•Any other specific requirements
Please note that the handmade nature of ceramics means I cannot guarantee an exact replication of a reference image. I will always discuss expectations with you before beginning work.
3.2 Deposit & Payment
•A non-refundable deposit of 50% of the agreed price is required before work begins.
•The remaining balance is due upon completion, before dispatch.
•If you cancel a commission after work has begun, you forfeit your deposit. If significant work has been completed, additional charges may apply.
3.3 Approval & Changes
I will provide progress updates and, where possible, photographs during the making process. Any significant changes to the agreed brief requested after work has begun may incur additional charges, which will be agreed with you in advance.
3.4 Delivery & Risk
Delivery and risk terms for commissions are the same as for standard artwork sales (see Section 2.4). I take great care in packaging all commissions, but cannot accept liability for damage caused in transit beyond what is covered by any postal insurance.
4. Gift Vouchers
Gift vouchers are available for purchase via the website.
•Gift vouchers are valid for 12 months] from the date of purchase.

7. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, my total liability to you in connection with any booking or purchase will not exceed the amount you paid for that booking or item. I am not liable for indirect or consequential losses.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
8. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
9. Changes to These Terms
I reserve the right to update these Terms and Conditions at any time. The version in force at the time of your booking or purchase will apply to that transaction. Please check this page periodically for updates.
